We have seen a series of shoddy government attempts to amend the constitution before the Presidential Elections in 2010.
Administration leaders have tried to convene the House and the Senate into a Constituent Assembly. They have also made a mockery of the noble idea of People Power with a blatant imitation—the so-called People’s Initiative. These attempts have exposed the government’s subterranean manipulation of our democratic institutions.
The answer to our nation’s problems lies not in changing our Constitution; it lies in changing a corrupt and deceitful government.
This administration has the habit of bending our legal structures to advance its selfish interests. Now it is bent on bending the Constitution itself to perpetuate the present regime.
We cannot allow the reign of corruption and deceit to continue. We must stop this administration from assaulting the basic instrument of our democracy: Let our people’s voices be heard, loud and clear: No to Cha-Cha!
